The Moscow Festival Ballet Presents A Lavish “Sleeping Beauty” At Parker Playhouse

FORT LAUDERDALE – Under the direction of legendary Bolshoi Ballet principal dancer Sergei Radchenko, The Moscow Festival Ballet performs Sleeping Beauty at Parker Playhouse on Sunday, February 28 at 2 p.m.

Extraordinary Russian dancers, stunning choreography, opulent sets and lavish costumes, along with Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score create an experience the whole family will enjoy. In the grand tradition of classical Russian ballet, audiences will be transported to the storybook kingdom of a fairytale princess, a malevolent witch and the magic of true love’s kiss.

Since its inception in1989, the Moscow Festival Ballet has toured extensively with a company vision to bring together the highest classical elements of the great Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet companies within the framework of Russian classic ballet.

Under Radchenko’s direction, leading dancers from across Russia have forged an exciting company staging new productions of timeless classics such as Giselle, Don Quixote, Paquita and Carmen. The company continues to expand its repertoire commissioning new works from within Russia and abroad while specializing in 20th century full-length ballets.

The Moscow Festival Ballet has toured the United States, Canada and Europe while also enjoying great success in Turkey at the Istanbul Festival, in Greece at the Athens Festival and in a two-month tour of Japan, Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong.

The Broward Center Dance Series continues with Pilobolus an April 8 and 9 followed by Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo on April 15.

The Parker Playhouse, located in Holiday Park at 707 N.E. Eighth Street in Fort Lauderdale, is an affiliated venue of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, which provides programming and management of the facility.
