Holiday Travel Tips Everyone Should Know

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the holiday season surrounding Christmas and New Year’s Day tends to be one of the busiest times of the year for traveling. In fact, travel during that time of the year increases 23 percent, compared to the rest of the year. As many people take to the highways and skies, there are some tips they should keep in mind in order to help keep them safer and healthier along the way.

Congratulations to Linda Gancitano and Jennifer Hoover of Driftwood Middle School in Hollywood for being selected as the Heart-Healthy School Award recipients for the 2014/15 school year. They are among only 12 people to receive a national American Heart Association (AHA) Jump Rope For Heart/Hoops For Heart (JRFH/HFH) Award. These programs are jointly sponsored by SHAPE (Society of Health and Physical Educators) America and AHA to promote physical education and provide children with knowledge of heart disease and stroke. The funds raised go toward cardiovascular disease, stroke research and health education.
