FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – In an effort to explore the many ways that art heals the soul and rejuvenates the spirit, ArtServe presents its inspirational multi-media exhibition, “REFLECT: Healing Through Art,” from May 7 to May 25. Sponsored by Holy Cross Hospital, the exhibit kicks off with a free gallery reception on Thursday, May 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at ArtServe, located at 1350 East Sunrise Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.

Music, Dancing, Drummers and More! Asian-Pacific American Heritage Celebration is May 12 & 13, 2018, at Museum of Discovery and Science

Fort Lauderdale, FL  – Explore the culture, traditions, history and music of Asia and the South Pacific Islands during the Museum of Discovery and Science’s annual Asian-Pacific American Heritage Celebration in collaboration with Polynesian Proud and sponsored by Children’s Services Council of Broward County. Visitors are invited to enjoy special activities and performances in honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage month, taking visitors on a journey to the Pacific islands of Hawaii, Tahiti, New Zealand and Samoa and Asian countries including Japan, Philippines, and China. Shows and activities are included with museum exhibits admission.

Conrad Tao Closes Symphony Of The Americas' 30th Anniversary Season In High Voltage Fashion

The Symphony of the Americas' closing concert of the season on Tuesday evening at the Broward Center's Amaturo Theater capped the ensemble's 30th anniversary with an evening of brilliant performances. Pianist Conrad Tao was a blazing soloist in a Prokofiev concerto and played one of his own compositions as a memorial to his teacher. Under Maestro James Brooks-Bruzzese, the orchestra was in splendid form.

May 5th 2018 Is Free Comic Book Day at Lauderdale Comics

Lauderdale Comics in Ft. Lauderdale is one of the thousands of comic book shops around the world celebrating the largest event in the comic book industry on Saturday, May 5th: Free Comic Book Day (FCBD). Each year, thousands of participating stores give over six million comic books to millions of fans to introduce them to the wonders of comics.

“Free Comic Book Day is a great event for the whole community. Bringing everyone together, finding books for everyone to enjoy, and seeing people of all ages—children, teens, and adults—sharing our passion for comics is incredible, said Melissa Sadowitz, Store Manager of Lauderdale Comics. “Even if you’ve never picked up a comic book, we want to welcome everyone to Lauderdale Comics on May 6th, because there are so many amazing comics this year and we can’t wait to share them.”

This is the 2nd year Lauderdale Comics celebrates FCBD, offering the community a fun, family-oriented event where everyone can find a comic they’ll enjoy. Grab a photo with Local Cosplayers, check out art from Local Artists and grab a bite from Super Heroes of Florida while you wait! Come dressed as your favorite character and enter our Costume Contest and enter your name to win exciting prizes in our FCBD Raffle!
