Autism in Flight Takes Off at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport BCPS Students with Autism Practice the Travel Experience

Since May 2013, Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) has partnered with JetBlue Airlines for the annual Autism in Flight event at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. This year’s event takes place on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. The Broward County Board of County Commissioners, Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Broward Sheriff’s Office, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Broward County Aviation Department are also partners in the Autism in Flight event, which has provided opportunities for nearly 200 students with an autism spectrum disorder to participate in a simulated flight experience.

Our Fund Foundation Announces Spring 2019 Grants; Allocates More Than $120,000 for South Florida Non-Profits That Support LGBT Causes

WILTON MANORS, FL - Our Fund Foundation, South Florida’s only LGBT community foundation, raised $120,500 to distribute via its Spring 2019 Community Grant Program. The grants will help fund deserving non-profit organizations that proposed unique ideas, projects and programs – all advancing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties.

Fort Lauderdale, Fl – Step into the world of superheroes, crime-fighters, gadgets, and spies in this new immersive experience. Learn the circumstances that create superheroes, discover the ideals that heroes uphold, and push the boundaries as to what it truly means to be heroic at the Museum of Discovery and Science’s new traveling exhibition, Hall of Heroes, sponsored locally by Nicklaus Children’s Health System. The ribbon cutting event will be held Friday, May 17th at 10:30 a.m. and the exhibit will be open through September 2, 2019.
