FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Grammy® and Emmy® award-winning artist Harry Connick, Jr. lights up the Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, January 28 for the Broward Performing Arts Foundation’s 2022 Annual Celebration, presented by Dr. Lee and Brigitte Mandel, South Florida Sinus and Allergy Center.
The festivities begin with a cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m. on the Wendt Terraces at the Huizenga Pavilion. At 7 p.m., the Annual Celebration guests will take their VIP seats in the Au-Rene Theater for Connick’s performance. After the show, the party continues with an elegant dinner and dancing on stage. Proceeds from the evening support the education and enrichment programs at the Broward Center.
A gifted interpreter of the Great American Songbook, Connick will showcase classics from his remarkable 40-year career. Acclaimed as an actor, singer, bandleader and composer across multiple platforms, Connick’s honors include a star on the celebrated Hollywood Walk of Fame; three Grammy awards; two Emmy awards; sales of more than 28 million albums; and Tony® nominations as both composer/lyricist for the musical Thou Shalt Not and as the lead in the Tony-winning revival of The Pajama Game. For his latest release recorded during the pandemic, Alone With My Faith, Connick wrote and arranged many of the songs, played every instrument and sang every part.

For more than 25 years, the Broward Performing Arts Foundation has been instrumental in providing support for the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. The Foundation was established in 1985 to deliver the required private funding to build the Center and create an endowment to sustain its operations. Over the years, the Foundation has successfully raised funds to support the Broward Center’s innovative and diverse programming, arts-in-education initiatives, community engagement activities and capital projects. The Foundation recently completed a $30 million capital campaign to renovate and restore the iconic Parker Playhouse. Prior to this, it raised $60 million to complete the Encore! capital campaign to renovate, renew and revitalize the Broward Center campus.
