FORT LAUDERDALE – A movie favorite screened live with audio and musical accompaniment by full symphony orchestra is the delightful holiday mash-up of Disney in Concert: Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas in the Au-Rene Theater of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, December 13 at 8 p.m.
Nominated for an Academy® Award for best visual effects and a Golden Globe® winner for Best Original Score, Burton’s haunting holiday classic is screened as the South Florida Symphony Orchestra performs Grammy® Award-winning composer Danny Elfman’s score.
This animated fan favorite follows Jack Skellington, Halloweentown’s pumpkin king, as he accidentally stumbles on Christmastown and plots to bring Christmas under his control by kidnapping Santa Claus and taking over the role. But Jack soon discovers even the best-laid plans of mice and skeleton men can go seriously awry.
The National Rock Review reported, "Screening the film at the Hollywood Bowl with a live orchestral performance… was the ultimate treat for fans of the film.”
Adding to the fun, Broward Center Arts Ambassador Lyn Farmer offers an Engaging the Senses pre-concert talk one hour prior to the concert that is complimentary to ticket holders. Farmer will survey different traditions of holiday films while delving into this film as everyone is invited to enjoy a seasonal sip of eggnog and non-alcoholic eggnog.
