Florida Division of Emergency Management Closing COVID-19 Testing Sites due to Subtropical Disturbance

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. -- The Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) announced that 10 state-supported drive-thru COVID-19 testing sites and four state-supported walk-up COVID-19 testing sites will be closed from Friday, May 15 through Sunday, May 17, due to a low-pressure system expected to impact the state this weekend that could bring heavy rain, severe thunderstorms, and wind gusts up to 40 mph.

Precautionary Boil Water Notice Effective 5:00 AM on May 14 for Properties in Vicinity of 700 NW 19 Avenue

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. -- City of Fort Lauderdale crews will be performing emergency repairs during the overnight hours to a valve on a two-inch water main and will be installing a new valve on a six-inch water main both located in the vicinity of 700 NW 19 Avenue. Properties in the immediate area of the repair work may experience low or no water pressure while the repairs are being completed.

Fort Lauderdale presses to reopen soon; poor response to census raises concern

Like the vast majority of you, I’m hoping for that day soon when we can walk along the beach, go to our favorite restaurant, exercise at the gym or simply get our hair cut. The city has been working hard to curb the COVID-19 virus and gain permission to start reopening businesses and amenities. 

Even as this effort continues, another serious issue has arisen for our city that could have some very detrimental, long-term consequences. Fort Lauderdale has been slower to respond to the U.S. census than most cities our size.
