  • Fast food restaurants per capita (the fewer the better)
  • Percentage of restaurants that are not fast food (the higher the better)
  • Percentage of young residents ages 18 to 34 (the higher the better)

Fort Lauderdale received high marks for its active lifestyle opportunities, arts and entertainment, nightlife, music venues, and array of restaurant and dining options.

Commending Fort Lauderdale for its many attributes and amenities, Movoto stated, "With great scores in non-fast food restaurants, active life options, arts, and nightlife, it's hard to find a downside to this city.  It's even home to a ton of colleges, like The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, to keep that young vibe going strong."

Fort Lauderdale Mayor John P. "Jack" Seiler was thrilled with the ranking saying it reflects of the City's long-term Vision and Strategic Plan that leaders are implementing to build community and enhance quality of life."This outstanding national recognition affirms that our economic development strategies, infrastructure enhancements, and community investments are paying off," said Mayor Seiler.  "From our world famous beaches, vibrant waterways and award-winning restaurants, to our dynamic nightlife, outstanding parks, and diverse arts and cultural offerings, Fort Lauderdale is an exciting City to visit and an even better place to call home."

Other cities ranked in the top 10 include Miami Beach, Miami, Sarasota, Orlando, Coral Gables, Boca Raton, Tampa, Fort Myers, and Hollywood.
